What you'll learn in this course
Alchemy is the ancient art of transformation, a bridge between material and spiritual, between science and mysticism, between self and cosmos. The phrase "As above, so below"—attributed to the Emerald Tablet, a cornerstone of the Corpus Hermeticus—encapsulates the alchemist's vision: that the workings of the universe mirror those within us.
Rooted in ancient philosophy and esoteric traditions, alchemy was both a physical science and a metaphorical journey, seeking the refinement of base matter into gold, just as the soul seeks enlightenment.
Alchemy is an art of symbols, a dance of opposites, and a map—a guiding system for transformation. This course will explore its historical roots, its symbolism, and its influence. Through textual study, symbolic analysis, and reflective inquiry, participants will actively engage with alchemy as a living tradition.
Rumi, the mystic Sufi poet (1207–1273), said, "What you are seeking is seeking you." Alchemy works just like that. It is interested in those who show interest in it. It is believed that the path of alchemy chooses its disciples. Thus, this course is an invitation to meet halfway—yet only for those who feel drawn to the transformation offered by the Opus Magnum, as alchemy was called by its practitioners: the Great Work, which has no beginning nor end.
